My Worship Story Pt. 1: Child-like Faith

You see, worship is not what everyone thinks it is. When we say, "let's worship," musicians and singers take out their mics and instruments, but in the Old Testament, when Abraham, said, "let's go worship," he went to sacrifice something – to give something expensive, valuable, and holy. #worshipstorychallenge

Have you ever thought about the faith of a child? It’s a beautiful thing. If you have children, you see this regularly. You watch your children play and see their imagination come to life in front of your very eyes. It’s no coincidence that Jesus wants us to have the faith of a child. It is the most exceptional kind of faith there is, and I can remember my childhood in this regard.

One of the many stories I can remember is the day that I received Christ. It was definitely childlike faith that allowed me to receive Christ so quickly. I was probably, eight years old give or take. I was in daycare at the time, and there was a missionary youth group that visited us. One of the youth leaders told us how Jesus Christ loved us and then asked if anyone wanted to let Jesus in their hearts. My hand shot up!! Now, you have to understand how huge that was. I was probably the shyest kid known to man, and for my hand to dart up so boldly was close to a miracle.

Ever since that day, Jesus and I have been down like four flat tires. During my childhood journey, I made sure to say my prayers every night. It was like clockwork. Nothing could keep me from that sacred time, and now I see that our relationship is deeply rooted like a tree planted by the rivers of water.

You see, worship is not what everyone thinks it is. When we say, “let’s worship,” musicians and singers take out their mics and instruments, but in the Old Testament, when Abraham, said, “let’s go worship,” he went to sacrifice something – to give something expensive, valuable, and holy. So my worship story is not one of music, but one of consistent devotion and the results? Well, stay tuned. I’m telling Part 2 of my worship story next week!!
